Duncan Clark, Andy Moon, Jon Jones and David Ivory took part in the opening road race of the Oxfordshire Road Race League on the Arncott circuit near Bicester hosted by Bicester Millennium. The weather was perfect, dry warm with sunny intervals, there was a little breeze but nothing to trouble the bunch. The highlight of the circuit was Panshill, a short steep, Belgium Classics type middle ring climb which would have to tackled seven times, with a Prime on the fourth ascent. Of course with every up comes a down, with a 40mph plus descent of the B4011.
Thanks to the commissaires, drivers, NEG, marshals, helpers and of course riders who made the event a big success on Sunday.

Richard Quayle, the race organiser, writes:
This was my second year of organising the club Road Race. Following dreadful
wind and rain on race day in 2012, and only have 18 finishers I hoped for a better
experience in 2013. Race day was a little cool but sunny and this year there were 50
finisher from a full field.
Reading CC's annual Road Race for 2/3/4 category riders is on April 28, and entries are now closed with a full field of 80 riders.
NOTE: Due to roadworks in Goring, the course is revised to avoid Goring completely, and has a different finish area half way up South Stoke Road, so please look at the new link below to familiarize yourself.
The HQ is Woodcote Village Hall, which opens at 8am, and the race is 96km with a start time of 10am. The organiser is Richard Quayle: email@example.com.
Richard is still short of some Marshals, so please offer your help to make this promotion a success. Spectators are very welcome at the HQ and around the course.
For all riders and spectators, the full information including entry list, course notes and HQ details are attached to this article.
New Course Map: http://gb.mapometer.com/running/route_3046659
The race was run off in appalling weather conditions of intermittent heavy rain and a 30mph crosswind on exposed parts of the course. The field was roughly halved before half distance, making Alex Baskaya's solo win even more impressive.
