The Medium group will aim at around 16-18
mph average, covering 50-60 miles with a tea stop at 11am.
This group is intended to appeal to those who want a faster
ride than the Social group, and also for those who want to
employ, or learn, good group riding techniques. Mudguards
in the winter are strongly encouraged.

The Fast group aims for an average speed of 18-20 mph, covering
55-65 miles with a tea stop at 11am. Arthur Satterley writes:
"The fast group is fun, exhilarating, social and at times
tough; if you are committed to making it with us, we welcome
anyone. However, as with any run, you need to be able (or
satisfied) to ride at 18-20mph average and be sensitive to
those who might be cooked. But we can't guarantee what is
going to happen and we won't rule the run like dictators."
Steve Thurgood is Reading CC's Clubruns Secretary. If you'd
like to devise a route and lead a group one Sunday, please
get in touch on 0118 375 7207 or email steve@thurgoodfamily.org
Guidance for leaders: Please aim to get to the cafe
stop at 11:00. This will allow socialisation and productive
intercourse between the groups when we're all at the same
place, and will also to allow people to swap groups at half
time if they are either knackered or too fresh. If you're
unsure where any of these places are, links to maps are on
the Destinations
Page.
All these rides, except where indicated on the list, will
leave Market Place Reading (by the statue of Queen Vic) at
9am Sundays. The social ride leaves at the same time. |
