Reading CC's two long-distance TT specialists, Greg Woodford and Barry Quick, entered the EDCA 100 in Suffolk on Sunday. Woodford gained an excellent 5th place and Quick improved his personal best time by 5 minutes.
Woodford commented: "I found it quite hard. The weather was gorgeous but there was a steady headwind on the westerly part of the loop. It was good training for my 24 hour race this coming weekend." Woodford has entered the national 24-hour time trial in which the aim is to amass as much distance as possible in 24 hours. The event takes place in Shropshire this weekend.
Quick said: "Yes, it was a good day, cool but more importantly dry and sunny at times. There was a bit of a Westerly breeze which knocked the edge off my speed on the outward leg. It was a personal best time for me by 5 minutes so I was pleased with that especially as I had spent most of the previous night struggling with an upset stomach, luckily this did not seem to affect me too much during the event. One of my aims this year was to improve my 100 time with the hope of targeting the BDCA 100 in September, I hope I've done enough now to get into the BDCA event which is on a good course."
