Prizegiving and John Barnes Appreciation Lunch
Benson's Riverside Bistro was the venue today for the club's annual prizegiving, this year's event doubling as the club's expression of thanks to John Barnes, who recently stood down after 38 years as Chairman of Reading CC and its predecessors. Fifty members attended with their guests, enjoying a substantial buffet lunch, a slide show presented by Roy Booth of Reading CC in the 1970s and 1980s, the prizegiving compered by Adrian Lawson, and finally the foodstuff without which no trip to Benson would be complete, in the shape of the John Barnes Cake.
Many thanks to those who organised the event, especially Sarah Lidington. The full list of competition winners is available here.
