"Brisk" Clubrun Report - Sunday 21/11/2010

12 of us set off, becoming 14 at Sonning Common when joined by Mick and Sue Berry + tandem.

On from there after Paul C puncture repair, to Henley, Mill End then the Ibstone climb past the famous windmill. That saw us just about over the Chilterns, after when we made a fast sweep down towards Aston Rowant and the Watlington Chinnor road. We crossed into some lanes to emerge onto the main road into Thame where unfortunate Paul punctured again. We split the group and 7 of us rode in first, behind the tandem that just went faster and faster and faster. Within sight came Thame Coffee House.

About one and a half hours later on the return ride, we all rode well up our revered A40 testers hill then on through Christmas Common to the top of the Stonor Valley.

Rob, Dan and a few others had by now pressed on while the tandem rejoined us after that long hill. Miles turned off just before Nettebed, the rest of us rode on, eventually into Peppard Common.

John H and I turned off just after for Dunsden and Sonning, the others Paul, Nigel, Kevin, went straight on.
By now the tandem and Nick B, and maybe another, had reduced to tiny dots in front of us and we never saw them again.

A brisk ride, some hills, healthy speeds, got home feeling nicely worked out and thankfully not worked over :-) distance just on 59. Speed about 16.5 mph average.
