Road Racing

Reading CC has a number of riders who actively participate in British Cycling and LVRC road racing events. Common circuits used by club riders are Hillingdon (near Heathrow- with races in the summer on Tuesday evenings for seniors and Wednesday evenings for vets), Thruxton, Castle Combe, MOD Chertsey and Eelmore. Many riders frequent events run by the Surrey League and an extensive calendar can be found on their website www.surreyleague.co.uk. The Club is keen to encourage more members into road racing and anyone interested in road racing with Reading CC (whether existing or prospective members) should contact me by e-mail: jpsnead@btinternet.com or call me on 07979 704302. As Road Race Secretary I commonly get asked questions about events and British Cycling membership. If you are new to road racing, visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.

As well as the weekly clubrun on Sundays members and local riders are encouraged to take advantage of the facilities at Palmer Park. The velodrome is available on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings for training. Sessions are from 8:15pm until 10:00 pm and cost £3.25. In addition during the winter several riders turn out for a 2-3 hour group ride on Saturday mornings - 8:30am outside AW Cycles. For a full list of club activities please see the foot of the homepage.
